\"\"<\/a>Ahmed was just a school boy in Upper Egypt when he moved with his family\u00a0into a large apartment building in Alexandria filled with both Christian and\u00a0Muslim families. No one thought it strange that the little Muslim boy played\u00a0with Christian friends, attended their church club and sometimes went to Sunday school. But when teenaged Ahmed began attending church and\u00a0mosque prayers, he realized the God of Christianity was very different from\u00a0the Allah of Islam.<\/p>\n

After reading the Bible, he put his faith in Christ and was secretly baptized by\u00a0a local priest.\u00a0A week later, he was arrested and jailed for a year. He was never\u00a0told why, but his faith grew strong in prison.<\/p>\n

Four years later he was again arrested for several weeks, but he refused to renounce his faith in Christ. After he prayed to find a Christian wife, God led him\u00a0to a young woman in Islamic attire who also believed in Christ, but dared not\u00a0tell her family. Because both had Muslim I.D.s, they had a Muslim wedding,\u00a0and when their children were born they had to register them as Muslims. \u201cWe\u00a0have to live a double life,\u201d Ahmed said. \u201cOn the inside we are Christians. But\u00a0on the outside we act like Muslims.\u201d Egypt allows no legal option for former\u00a0Muslims like Ahmed and his wife to call themselves Christians.<\/p>\n
